Lake Creek Lodge in Camp Sherman has both unforgettable scenery and recreation; scenic views and unspoiled wilderness in the Cascade Mountain range make for incredible hiking and biking. World class fly-fishing on the Metolius River or just a hike along the riverbank is an absolute must. Choose from many Central Oregon golf courses, including Black Butte Ranch and Aspen Lakes. A day of bird watching in the springtime is always a great treat with the white headed wood peckers arriving for the season. Or come winter, a full day of cross country skiing in the Cascade Mountains or right out the front door of the cabin. This wilderness wonderland is the ideal place to leave the city behind and get back to nature. With 18 fully equipped individual cabins we can host a whole passel of you.

It’s where kids get to be kids again without the distractions of life at home. No Phones! No TV’s. Instead bring your bikes and head into the woods for a day of wildlife watching, maybe stop along the Metolius River for a nice picnic lunch and on the way back to your cabin at Lake Creek stop in at The Camp Sherman Store and get that well deserved ice cream cone.

Take the kids down to the Wizard Falls Hatchery to feed the fish and take a tour of the grounds ~ hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of the Otters sunning themselves on the dock. If you are up for an early morning start, get down to the Hatchery by 8am and you can watch them feed the resident Eagle.

While in Camp Sherman make sure to drop in and tour The Metolius Preserve project, a 1,240 acre-forest tract setup to protect the wildlife. Situated within a highly diverse forest, the new preserve will support a variety of wildlife including a large herd of elk. Songbirds migrating between Latin America and Canada use the area as a way stop. The preserve also provides varied recreational opportunities. It is another great place that you, your friends, and family can bike to and have a nice picnic along the creek.

Maybe you’ll choose to stay a little closer to your cabin. Spend the afternoon up at our heated swimming pool – open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. As the kids play in the pool you can grab that book you have been wanting to finish and relax in one of the Hammocks, maybe even sneak in that mid-afternoon nap! If the kids get waterlogged they can always play a little Basketball or Tennis. You can grab a racket and play a game of Badminton, maybe a game of horseshoes or, try your hand at Tetherball. We have plenty to keep the kids occupied. If they get tired of fun and games, they can head down to Lake Creek and do a little old-fashioned Crawdad hunting in the late afternoon sun.

If you are looking for a more rugged adventure, pack up the car and head out to many of the local hiking trails. With the trailhead just a stones throw away, a good half day hike will take you to the top of Black Butte where you’ll see some spectular scenery including a great view of Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Washington, Three Finger Jack and, of course, The infamous Three Sisters. Or take in a hike at Canyon Creek Meadows to view the wildflowers! A full day hike will take you to the top of the Tam McArthur Rim.

Still not enough? … book a rafting trip down the McKenzie River, head over to Smith Rock to try your hand at rock climbing, how about bait fishing on Suttle Lake or a nice leisurely walk along the trails, a nice afternoon trip to Scout Lake for the kids to make sandcastles and cool off with a swim, a drive over to Sahalie Falls is a great way to spend a couple of hours and while seeing a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall.
