... RECREATION ...

Lake Creek Lodge offers opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation. Shoot some hoops on the basketball court, practice your skills at the pool table or play a little ping pong . The tennis courts and the large heated pool are a great place to enjoy those beautiful summer days. Out your door there's hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and snow sports in the winter. Of course, there are plenty of comfy chairs and couches, or just the soft green grass for that good book or an afternoon nap.

There are several nearby golf courses as well as two ski areas. For the avid fly fisher the world-renowned Metolius River is a thrilling challenge. Spin fishing with artificial flies and lures is allowed on the lower Metolius, and there are several lakes nearby for trolling and bait fishing. Bird watchers will be amazed by the number of species that call the grounds at Lake Creek Lodge and the Metolius Recreation Area home.

During the winter season there is still plenty to keep you active and out enjoying the cool mountain air. You can cross-country ski or snowshoe right from your cabin door. There are many trails in the Metolius Basin for you to choose from or feel free to blaze your own trail in the National Forest which surrounds Camp Sherman. You can, of course, choose to do nothing but sit by the fire, snuggled under a blanket and read that book you have wanted to finish.

Hoodoo Mountain Resort is a 20 minute drive from Lake Creek Lodge and offers downhill skiing, night skiing, groomed cross country trails and autobahn tubing hill as well as a sledding hill.
Mt. Bachelor is approximately a 1 hour drive from Camp Sherman and has some great skiing adventures for you.

Snowmobiles are not allowed in the Metolius Basin but you are certainly welcome to bring them along and head up the mountain to any of the Snow Parks to get in a good day of fun. Just 15 minutes away you will find the town of Sisters, which offers a wonderful variety of locally-owned stores ranging from antiques, souvenirs, art galleries, clothing and much more. Maybe take in a movie at the Sisters Movie House. If you’d prefer to travel farther a field, visit Bend's scenic Old Mill District on the Deschutes River for a great day of shopping and sightseeing.
